About

James Basses incorporate the basic philosophy of “Pure and Simple”… Pure tone and Simple playability.

Using fine domestic and exotic hardwoods, combined with the best electronics and hardware, James Basses are designed to provide the ultimate in musical satisfaction. Each instrument is hand-made based on selected or custom-designed body styles, choice of woods, and other options to make it purely and simply the best for you and your style.

trinity310_0.jpgYears of musicianship and woodcraftsmanship  led to the development of James Basses. Drawing upon his knowledge and professional experience as both a bass player and a woodcrafter, founder Greg Lambas, strives for comfortable designs, excellent playability, artful appearance, and tones that reflect the natural sounds and expressions of the instrument (and for those wondering… ‘James’ is Greg’s middle name).

As each bass is hand-made, the individual style and personality of the player can be fully considered as it is designed. Custom body styles, wood combinations, pickup configurations and hardware selections are all available. But, for those who like to keep it simple, select body styles and configurations are suggested and can be seen on the Models page.

Only high quality selected tonewoods and professional name-brand components are used in all James Basses including–but not limited to–EMG, Bartolini and Aguilar electronics, Schaller, Hipshot and Gotoh hardware, and DR Strings. A list of standard features, options and general pricing information can be seen on the Pricing & Options page.

If what you see doesn’t answer your questions, please call or e-mail to discuss your needs and desires in a custom bass. Thank you!
